Essentially, they manage the land and secure leases, so they can extract oil and gas. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, build housing for workers (human camp), assemble the excavation machinery, and drill the well itself, especially in remote locations. They are also part fixer, part troubleshooter, and part facilitator.

Hell, better a 2 foot hose to extend the arm if that’s all you have available. Having worked in similar places, the show is far removed from the safety precautions used in the industry, which according to OSHA regulations are ridiculous. No one would stand on a truck loaded with pipes and no one would be at heights without a safety harness.
